Start a workspace

Before you start

The questions that come
before the trial does.

Answered the way they would be answered on the phone, including the ones where the answer is no.

01

Do I have to import anything to start?

No. Nothing is imported and nothing has to be. Quote your next job in it and leave the old jobs where they are. Most people run one job through it before moving anything, which is the only way to find out whether it suits you.

02

Can I get my data back out?

Yes, two ways. Every list exports to CSV, and Settings has a button that takes a copy of your whole database and lets you download it. It runs nightly on its own as well. Photos and uploaded documents are not inside that file: they live on the server and come out separately if you ask.

03

What happens if I stop paying?

The workspace stops opening and nothing is deleted. Your database is still there and still yours; put a card back on or get in touch and it opens again where you left it. Nobody is locked out of their own history for being between jobs.

04

Does my crew need a seat each?

No. It is priced per office seat, meaning the people who quote, invoice and chase money. The crew are not a line on the bill, which is the opposite of how most of these tools are sold and the reason a ten-person crew does not cost ten times as much.

05

Does it work on a phone on site?

It is a website, so there is nothing to install and no app store. It works on a phone, and it can be added to the home screen so it opens like an app. In a basement with no signal it will not load, and neither will anything else.

06

Is my data mixed in with other companies?

No. Every company gets its own database, not a row in a shared table with a company column on it. There is no query anywhere that can reach another company's data because the rows are not in the same place to reach.

07

What does my bookkeeper get?

CSV out of every list, and a PDF of every quote and invoice. It is not accounting software and does not pretend to be: it tells you what a job made, and your accountant still does the books.

08

Who sees the quotes I send?

Only the person you send the link to. They open a page with your logo on it, approve it with their name, and the date is recorded. No account for them to make and no app to download, which is why they actually press the button.

09

How long does setting it up take?

About ten minutes. A name, an address, your logo, and the services you quote most often. You can add the rest as you go, and nothing has to be complete before the first quote goes out.

10

Who is behind it?

One contractor, building the software his own office runs on. That is the whole company. It means the thing you ask for might get built next week, and it also means there is no call centre. Both of those are true and you should weigh them.

Still something you want to ask?

It reaches one person, and that person answers it.
